Week of December 30, 2018

Hey mom,

Just wanted to start off this week by saying I love you. I def didnt say enough on the call, the whole thing just felt so weird honestly. Feel like it just passed by and boom. I hope your Christmas went awesome and that you and dad had fun in Utah. I got a funny feeling the other day that something had happened like in the family, hopefully that was just me. How did it go w the fam_ How was lunch with Zabel_ I really miss you guys. That being said the mission is where its at. I only have like 80 something weeks left which kinda freaks me out. Some real funny stuff happened this week, along with some amazing miracles. One thing tho, theres this kid we have been working with for a while, Andy. Hes so awesome. He is without a doubt one of the smartest kids I have met. A funny lil guy but way smart. Anyways he has been trying to get baptized for a while now, and his mom' a ¨member¨wont let him. Point is we finally got it worked out and basically had it all set to go, interview and everything. We go to his house friday to get the signature and he goes I am getting baptized tomorrow! And was just pumped. Turns out he has bronchitus and his mom thinks it would be better to wait. He even asked me to baptize him and everything, asking all kinds of questions, asking EVERYTHING about missions. His family was grilling him one day like why do you even want to be baptized. He dead on goes, I want to be clean from my sins and have the holy ghost in my life. So yeah hopefully that happens this week. Other than that my week was usual. Busy busy busy but good. Thats how we like it.

Andy is a goat. I am gonna chastize his mom this week. I think thats the word. IDK. Whatever it is we are gonna do what it takes to make it happen. I havent gotten any packages no... Although I am going into the office tmre cuz I forgot my planner there lol, I am a bad missionary. But nah its chillin. Zabel is sharper than Gaevin, either that or I lowered my standards down here haha. We are havong fun tho. Am I really almost at 6??? I thought it was 5

Hello, hope you are well. I will see you tomorrow so like not a whole lot to say this week. There are some really cool people we are working with, a lot of people prepping for January. Also a lot of kids, somehow still mananging to find a lot of kids. But I dig it its pretty good times. My companion isnt my biggest fan a veces but we are working on it. Hasnt always been easy and he, like Jimmy, has kind of started looking for and calling out weaknesses, then using them to display how much better he is than me. I gotta drop the pride honestly. Something I am working on. But we are actually doing good and are buds so its fine, I like the way things are and hopefullly get a change more juntos. But its God{s plan and I have decided to start trusting that.

Week of December 17, 2018

Hey mommers, 

Killer week this week, kinda literally. But I one kid in the ward tell me one of his hobbies, besides playing mica, is talking to me. And other who said he wants to serve a mission in the US to come visit me. Both are almost 10 and we are gonna baptize both. We had a baptism fall thru the night before this week, a 14 year old girl. But after some bumpy times, Im doin alright. God is tossing us Alley'Oops and now we just gotta finish. Found a couple more families, Its dope finding families. Kinda funny cuz it means thinking about home a lot. But its good, I mean I miss home and all but like I wouldnt rather be anywhere else. Speaking of which, christmas here is the 24th but I got permission to call on the 25th so I will be calling then, what time works best? My district changed our pday to christmas that day to make it work but its just us 4 gringos so they all wanted it anyways. Been a fun week tho, just gotta figure out what to get the kid from Heber for Christmas. I have the rest worked out. Our neighbor is an OG named Memo with 19 siblings, hes like 60 but rolls around in chains and shirtless, and he is helping me get Cloves gift. I think he liked the crack stuff btw, he ate it in like 2 days. Thanks so much for the packages and evrything tho! I got a letter from you that was dated for october, the mail here really is quite slow. But I have enjoyed the 12 days thing, makes it fun. Today isnt pday, but we are writing. I actually am about to go on Exchanges with the ZL. Cool dude.

Thamks for thee updates, the cabin looks freakin sick, everyone here is jelly. I hope brandon is ok, I will respond to his mom next week hopefully. You are ditching a talk?? Im ashamed jkjk. Hey mom! 

Whats up= Sorry if my punctuation is wack, Spanish computers mess w me haha. ANyways just to give you an update on this week, all is good all is well. Been hitting Noche De Hogars here, sorry I totally spaced it in explaining what that meant, which totally reminds me of home. A lot does, I think thats just Christmas haha. I aint sad tho, I mean it obviously is hard being away from you at Christmas and all, but I like thinking of all you guys are doing and all the Christmas cheer you are spreading. I have developed a phobia of Cucarachas, so I attack them with FURY now. I burn them. Strike hard, Strike fast, No mercy. Food has been good, we eat a crap ton here. I have started putting on weight but I dont mind, figure I can lose it later or whatever. Clove and I are getting along great. Im not training anyone this next transfer and neither is he so shouldnt have too many changes. Good looks tho, its been way fun. I love my district, my comp, my area. I just gotta work on talking less haha. But fr Im sure yall are staying busy and stuff, I hope you are both happy. You always said that you wanted happy kids as a present, and thats pretty much all I can give you for now lol. Just know I am happy and I am well. Life is good. I had an impression a while back to try and start contacting like youth. And I have been trying hard to make that happen, recently I have just been extremly blessed. God is giving me opportunities and I just gotta make them count. 

Reading ur email sounds like a whole lotta fun. You and dad look awesome. I am hesetent to start talking about people specificly cuz I hate jynxing or watching them fall thru. But I feel good about rn. Lot of things in the works. Also my prime investigator from Santiago got baptized so that was dope. Looks like I am staying here at least one more transfwer for sure. All tho you neveer know. NAcho is not doing great, he hadnt emailed me in a while, but sent a fat one. I am worried for him. And did Brandons mom get my email? TODD what a dude. I know my emails are scattered haha I am sorry.

As far as Devin and sierra yeah I will write them next week. I hope they are ok... Are they staying up?

Tell me how primary is going!
Man things are loco in CV3. Fun fact, as I type, i get autocorrected but that last sentence had more words that count as spanish than not. Funny. But yeah honestly fininally seeing the blessings from the work. Its been great and I am hyped to keep on grinding.  I hope sister welker could understand me lol. Also as far as Pday, I climbed in the swamp and cleaned w bleach. We have a giant pila without a drain. So I just went to town cleaning all the junk out. So much bleach we may get blonde bucket showering now haha. 

 But like always I forgot, thanks so much for the packagae!!! Its so so so dope and I was so so so hyped. Thank you. Its gonna be dope opening everything and stuff. We are trying to work it out with the other district to do it together. Also theres not a whole lot of structure to calling so we are gonna plan and then get back to you.

honestly this week was really pretty cool, my comp is basiccally Jimmy so its been sweet. Life is all good tho, really dont have a whole lot to update you on. I have gotten to speak a buncha english this week, lot of deportees round here, so its way cool, prolly a lot like dads mission. I brag about you guys all the time, singing hymns to start every lesson reminds me of you. Also, I have ur present but dont know how to send it so I apoligize. Light the world is in full effect, so I could really use ideas for NDH games. We have done some service projects and stuff for the first time so that was cool, really wish we could do more like that. Thanks for always being positive and sharing stuff like that Its way cool. Hope ur trip wasd dope how long were you there? I dont know anything about christmas yet...

Well thank you mom those are perfect, gonna be hard to adapt a lil to english but I like it. I have gotten to work on talking to people a lot recently and so as Elder Clove says these will help me buddy buddy with everyone more. These are sick tho I love it. Thank you. Anything more I can do for you? Ima try and get ur package in quick but idk its hard around here. I will try hard tho. Just know they are hand made. I also got a letter on macaroni paper so thank you for that. I was just talking about Laredo the other day. People here think its cool you know spanish. I tell them I am puro guanaco to lie or that I am part native american to relate a lil. I really struggle teaching in english sometimes, its way easier I just always end up speaking in spanish. Prayers and emails too lol. People here are chill, they hate that we have money but I play it off usually aint too bad. Has Elder Zabel sent you the pacjkage I sent home w him yet?

Haha I am not skinny. I was, down to like 150 something but thiss area actually has dinner so i eat like 3 or so meals daily. Fat ones. We have weights and stuff too tho, so I am trying to get yyoked. I am def a lot happier and calmer here so yeah less flushed. I wish I wouldve learned spanish before the mish, something to make my kids do someday, hopefully they will be more obediant than I was. And hey, just wanted to know what You think future wise, I aint stressed but just been thinking about what I wanna do, lmk if you have ideas. I gtg for now tho so I love you and hope all is well. I dont need anything I am all good down here. Found out theres a WALMART IN OUR ZONE. so yeah we will try to go there one day. I love you mom, think and pray for you daily.

Week of November 25, 2018

Ok so I lost my cable for my keyboard so youre gonna get a short email but first off, Whats up? why was your week hard? Can I help? Second off thanks for the package it was dope. We cooked it and everything thanks. Also we put 6 people on date this week, but then got a call at 8am on friday and emergency transfers. So I am now in Las Cañes! still with Elder Clove. I will update more next week. We were a trio for a while, but the other kid was getting sent home bc he isnt worthy so he is gone. Awesome place tho. Total stud ward. We are kinda opening a new area tambien. Acrtually have no idea where we are and get lost a lot but its cool. The city is named Ilopango. Crazy to see all the thanksgiving pics too dang haha, and I ffound all ur little letters in my bag while packing, thank yopu lol The need a laugh one was really helpful. All in all pretty crazy this week but we are doing good. I love you lots and sorry you had a bad week. 

Yeah This week has been insane mom haha, but I am happy I like it here and its ok. I put 2 on dates already and we are grindin. This mission is full of weirdos but Im in the zone w the secrataries and APs now so its calmed down. We even played ball hehe. And yeah that looks like the right cable. Its prolly at the house somewhere. GHow are YOU tho?? Brandon?? 

The house is sick i will send a video soon but yeah I miss tomas and some of the familes I was working with. There are some way cool families here tho, with food and guitars and REFERENCES!

The area closed but yeah theres others who will hopefully be able to help out. cover 2 areas. And dang thats so dad, not wanting to pull the trees down. How is he? Is he doing ok? And dang, so its not looking good for Brandon? I have his pic in my book of mormon, really hard sometimes but honestly another round of motivation really helps me keep fighting. Clove is a beast tho, we party. I am a lil flushed not gonna lie haha. I have been working pretty hard and its pretty hot, but it should calm down now that we have a good, smaller area. I have no info about anything. President likes to keep a lid on most stuff so i wont know for a while. maybe make a secondary email tho, in case Harper and I go at the same time? idk.

Hey mom!

Ima keep it short hopefully we can go back and forth, emergency changes cuz my comp was a frickin idiot. Stole some money in his last area or something idk. But dont really wanna talk about that. My new comp is a cool, basically jeremy honestly. We have a good time. I talk to much tho, I am working on it. Poor dude got dropped here and pulled out of his old area. I feel super bad for him. But we have fun, its a good time. Im learning a lot about video games and we actually work really well together. My first baptism! He was so so hyped it was amazing. I said it kinda bad at first so I started over halfway thru, then I dunked him and he like threw his hand up.  SO I did it twice, and hes a big guy it was way hard. And hilarious, you knew the first one had to be like that. We went hard this week too. Put 3 people on date, found 20 nuevos, just went hard. This is gonna be a good transfer.

That being said wow, abby wilcox I saw her dad on the district, primary is a beast I love that the kids are dancing haha, how is it going overall? drama? and wow dad has a coach mac hat of course. Helix prolly whopped us, I miss football. What else Am I forgetting? I accidently did something so I lost ur email haha im sorry

Ok first off I gotta stop complaining cuz I been hearing stories of parents calling president and they dont love that. But no this tuesday we got a call, my comp just got put on blast, he took money from some members in his past area. Then he hung up. TThen it rings again, he asks to talk to me, starts blasting me says i had a problem respecting my leaders. I was super confused. So I apologized and asked a little bit more. Told him I was sorry but that I respected everyone. And he said ok, to repent and move on. I ended up talking to the ZLs and AP who Im cool with, turns out Ortega just had a buncha beef w the ZLs and there was political stuff. And I didnt stop him. So that was my sin. The ZLs and I are tight like one of them asked pres if we could be comps next transfer and I hang with them Pdays, I do stuff for them, like fr we are way tight. I think it was our last ZL who left with Ortega. Even tho we were tight too, he was just a really political guy, lied to get leadership stuff but I wont care about that. Im gonna email president and just clear things up. Apologize and stuff, the ZLs and my DL are bouta back me up too. But idk man it was freaky. I saw pres the next day and we were cool, he actually really likes me I think.ANd we have more success here than pat missionaries. And my trainer is a dude w just one more transfer than me, so I think he has trust in me a lil. My spanish is good now. Not perfect but I talk to everyone. Something I gotta work on. My comp is more of a quiet guy, so I have been just talking and talking. Good spiritual stuff but you know me and how much I like to talk, I gotta let up a lil. We are doing awesome tho, we are pretty tight, hes like Merik but better, and we have fun. Its nice to have english man. But yeah crazy week. Plus I had to dunk Tomas twice cuz he threw his hands up. The second time he just let go and did the same thing, so I grabbed his hands and pushed him under. Then with my other hand lifted him out, heavy dude. Shortish but a size 38 and he filled every inch. Big guy, not a size 44 like Eynan but yeah. Anyway, I think I got the respect thing cleared up, just wanna know what you think I should do. Other funny thing is we went to an old investigator who Ortega never took me too, cuz I met a guy who served here ealier and he told me to check them out. This guy goes off about all the goood missionaries he knows then goes, do you know Ortega_ that guy was a bad missionary. So yeah. ANd dude is a beast, wouldve gotten baptized but ortega never took me cuz he didnt like him. ALso Rodriiguez got reset. 

hEY if you send another package or letter, can you send a buncha printed out pics? Thanks. Baggy just means you miss home. Its not good haha but its ok in moderation and Ive let myself be baggy a lil this week. Im worried about harper lol, she doin aigjt?  

My comp and I agree that 3 days is max in Vegas, be careful. Tell everyone hi and that I miss them. 

And yeah the new comp is hard but I really like him so its ok, just wish it would be normal sometimes lol. My spanish is pretty nice yeah.

Week of November 12, 2018

Mom, 

hello. Not much to say this week, went by fast. Weird week, we have a new schedule we are trying so we are basically working all day. Have some families in far out places so we are either on bus or walking almost all day. Been super tired. The allergies are all good so you dont have to worry about that. Just cuz I know I left you hanging last week, yes I kinda got shoved out of the bus and so I was holding the bar but I swung out like a door and slammed my leg on a car we were passing. Hurt pretty bad, think it was messed up but then went away in 30  seconds and I was unaffected like it didnt happen. That kinda stuff happens a lot. Like w my allergys, or my ankles. the roads here, when there are roads, are just like broken cobblestone so I twist my ankle a lot. But everytime I am like healed after a couple seconds. One day I even got those leg pains I had when I was a kid and every once in a while back home, those went away. The other 2 white guys in my district are going home this week, a knee and a hernia, but I am the only one left and honestly feel like God is tryna tell me something. Cuz not gonna lie sometimes being here is awful and I even get a lil jealous of the other guys going home, but the little injury miracles made me remember why I am here and that I am here to stay. And deep down, not even deep just honestly, even tho I miss AMerica something awful I wouldnt rather be anywhere else rn. but one of the dudes coming back is like my best friend, I am going to be best man at his wedding. His name is elder zabel and hes gonna hit you guys up, wants to get lunch next time u go to utah. stud, but worried he wont be able to make it out on a mish. just a heads up.

Just read ur email, thanks mom I love ya. Totally remeber sister clapman she is funky but I am hyped she is a good lady. Love that you are all involved. Its hard to think I got 20 months left sometimes and i cant wait till we can all hang again, but everyday I get insane stories so I am doing good. 

Hows the YSA lol? still weird? tell me about the program!! theres some beef in branch counsel here about it cuz we only have 12 kids and the primary president wants christmas sunday...

Prayer mom. Prayer freaking saves me. Worried that we are all gonna get sent home soon, especially cuz they are pulling out of mexico and stuff, but it will all work out. Not that I am hoping for that. But yeah I email sister moulton every week, its really nice to have that. Her mission is really similar just with english and cars, yeah Im bitter haha jk.

Hey mom,

What do I need for the video?? I am confused haha I am sorry

so I was wrong, ended up getting a new comp. Which I actually was sad about. didnt think I could handle this area w a new guy. And honestly ortega and I got close ish. He even called me after he got transfered. Hes w one of my mtc buds. The kid I always had issues with lol. But my new comp is Elder rodriguez, de panama. Dudes a beast I think. He likes to work and thats about all I need rn. Lil funky but I actually like him, hes a fun dude. Loves to eat. 14 pupusas is his record. Twice mine. But no this week has gone well. After we found out about cambios, Ortega and I didnt do anything, which he tried blaming on me to one family, that made me mad. but it was fine. We{ve been grinding since, and since I know the area, I{ve kinda been leading the charge. I actually get to plan and stuff. But I have a crazy bad allergic reaction. Hives all over my arms and hands and feet and chest.Throat is tight, bloody noses. Taking meds, using cream, dont know what to do. Its bad, getting worse, and just itches. Im talking to the nurse and stuff tho so dont worry or try to do anything haha, just wanted advice. My comp is sick too, pretty bad flu. So thats not the best way to start off. But Im actually really excited. Kinda glad Ortega trashed me to president, cuz now I have an actual comp. Only thing is he says OK a lot, but it always sounds like passive aggresive. It isnt but its ler Zabel is gonna end up doing it, she lives in his area. We have had it planned since sebtember tho lol. but its cool, as long as she finally gets baptized thats all we care about at this point.

Wow!!! first off dang the cabin looks so flippin sweet. I swear yall are in in Utah every other week now what the heck hahah. Were you able to put the hammock in the basement? It looks dope tho 

And yeah cant believe sierra is prego! so happy for her and dev. Love those guys a bunch. Funny pregnancy story, we have an old guy like 70, and he lives w his sons wife who is about 20 and has a 5 year old. His son lives in Europe and has for years. She is pregnant. so thats what we see of pregnancy. I would say over half of teenage girls here end up pregnant by 17.

But on the good side! Sick the program is coming up, I miss that lol. Its the little things. But hey I am only gonna miss 2 right?

Hey dont sweat it, some members had an aloe plant so we ripped it out and put it all over and the pica is gone. I will be good. Might go to a dermatologist later this week tho. But we good dont sweat it fr. 

SISTER TURNER DIED?? how did I not know this. this isnt ok. 

But yeah was my email weird? I dont wanna be fake or sappy. Thats dope tho that me and the intellectual are on the same page. 

ANd hey being real, yall are first. Then boys, then a tie. ANd time isnt fast at all lol. Cool thing is I am a lot stonger now. I am getting kinda fat but I am strong. Its a thing here I think cuz everyone just eats the same food. Had pupusas wed-sunday this week lol. All those carbs. Eating good tho. Nuts and apple and milk every morning then the rest we just see what happens. And yeah I know its normal to miss stuff, I can wait 2 years. We watched the RM tho that was tough haha.

Dont worry it is approved. We had service at the temple this morning so We had to spend the night w some missionaries closer to the temple, we live in the boonies, so we watched a part after we got back. We cant be out too late cuz of the gangs so we have time in the house and it is approved. I made sure. and we went to bed on time. BUt yeah no its good. 

Sad news about sister turner, sorry mom. but yeah no everything is good be happy haha, sorry if <i sound depressed or anything. It is very hard to be here, but it is vale la pena. ANy questions I am forgetting? anything else for this week from yall?

Hey mom,

short week so I dont got a lot to say. Temple was way cool I liked it a lot. Weird in Spanish. But cool. Things are good w my comp. Turns out pres is giving us one more transfer here. Ortega is mad about that. Rafael came to church, hes the shoemaker. Tomas is doing awesome too, I gave him one of my white shirts he looks like a stud. Got to see all my MTC buds so that was cool. Spanish is good too, a +few times this week I just realized I was having a convo. We went to the lake, that was fun. Its in our area but it was kind of a waste of time honestly. I didnt really wanna go. But its cool, hopefully I can get the pics from Ortega{s phone camera thing. Sorry I dont have more lol, pretty chill week.

also i have a request for the cabin if you can. If not dont sweat it. But like a thing in the wall of the basement for hammocks. I love hammocks now.

Hey btw dont send the group yet, I will upload pics later, if you dont get them by like 3 go for it. But yeah it was a really good week haha, we had fun and my spanish is better than the vids I swear, I get stage freight. Totally forgot to thank you for the package lol, its dope haha I am so excited thanks so much!! It really doesnt get here fast I mean I just got the letters, just depends on when we can hike in and get the packages so dont stress. Plus they are exspensive too.

Oh my gosh thats sick. MY BOY ROB haha what a guy. Think about those kids a lot. Really miss them doesnt surprise me tho, Brandon likes the spotlight. What a g tho, brandon is a character cant wait to see him again.

yeah no i was kidding that stuff is bomb haha urs is good too im sure. The coat was a gift from a crazy hat maker named oscar who i dont like to talk about cuz theres some sketch stuff going on and its also very frustrating. But hes a funny dude. and yeah I spent a lot but not all. Price is close to the same back home but all my money goes to buses. Think I gotta log off now tho, so I love you, awesome to hear from you and the only pic in specific is one from ortega at the lake where I have the BOM extended, its sick. Just make me look good :)

Gotta dip but thanks! I needed thT HAHA. Trying hard to find the balance but I am finally coming into my own and its been amazing. Literally somedays I am casi fluent. Loving the culture and stuff now too. Still wierd as heck but its awesome and I love it.

Dear dad,

Good week, short but it was cool. Ortega and I are getting along better. Hes super mad that we are staying here one more transfer. He really just wants a new comp and a new area. But Im gonna try to go hard this time. My spanish is better sometimes I can just talk. I take over in lessons sometimes, some people I cant understand and I am working on vocab. My comp cant really help me tho, cuz he doesnt know any english and his spanish is all just from speaking not from like school so Usually I read the dictionary every night and try to get him to help. Hes been very sleepy this week tho. Even fell asleep in a lesson. Also just gets mad sometimes, hes says its cuz he wants to be a better example to me and that hes so disobediant and that he cant change. But when I try to talk to him he ignores me. weird. We were 7 investigators short of our goal cuz we spent the week doing not much. Even went to the lake for like 4 hours one day. SO yesterday he had the other missionaries in our branch come w us to help. Me and the gringo went to the tough area and found 5 in like an hour and a half, taught a sick lesson to an investigator'using your Plan de Salvacion layout thing, and had time to spare. And my spanish went 10x better. It was insane. They found 4 in the gold area and then went to an old investigators house. But its alright, things are better. And bc of our progress we are staying another transfer. 4 baptismal dates, 3 diff investigators came to church. But honestly idk. we are getting along good now but its rough. I dont wanna talk bad either but i gotta vent too. plus he came from such a bad situation. His dad is a drunk and his fam is broke. And like you said, when I remember that, its easier to be patient.

One of our fav snacks is orange juice w and saltines. Reminds me of you. Also our branch is tiny and just wack, you wouldnt believe it man. And the stake is now looking for houses so it is out of our hands
