Week of August 25, 2018

this week has been really up and down, but we started teaching finally so its been way amazing as well! The spanish was hard this week, I got frustrated that I am not progressing as fast as I want to, but at the same tine, my work ethic has really fallen off and I havent worked as hard as I should've. The lessons were way cool tho. Our interesed person, bc we can't use investigator anymore, is a tiny tiny tiny (like 4'9) lady named Veronica from Ecuador! My comp and I love her she's a very sweet lady and she likes that I've been to Ecuador. We've taught her about families and the Restoration, and yesterday we invited her to be baptized! she said yes. But only after some work. Elder Warner popped the question and then she was kinda weird for a sec. She was like what about my catholic baptism, and asked all about why other church's baptisms cannt count. So I hit her w the baptism is a choice we make to demonstrate our love to God and to make convenios to our heavenly father. Then I used the analogy of a house with keys to explain the presithood. She then got really peaceful and said she understood and felt really good. So I was all, se bautizara? and she said yes! bc she wants to feel the spirit and know this for herself more, it was seriously the best. She might be a member, about half the people who volunteer are, pero we don't think so cuz we compare stories and stuff w otro elders. Also.... THANK YOU FOR THE SHOES!! they are mad dope and I will post the 2123243 pics I took w them later. Super clutch of you guys thank you I love it. Also president Nelson's granddaughter taught our class the other day and we got to hear from D Todd Chrsitofferson it was amazing. Seriously the best week. Christofferson had a fascinating talk on the new emphasis on the church's name.

Yeah its been a good week, I don't feel inadequate. The only times I do are when I'm relying on myself more than the spirit. When I let the spiritual autopilot take over things go way good. 

Lexi! dude its bad. She started trying to flirt w a guy in my district and has been like walking around by herself taking pics and selfies, I saw her comp once. I see her like everyday and just do my best to avoid her, I told my district just to be careful, I say hi and stuff but I prefer to keep my distace. Ron and I see each other all the time tho thats fun. We swap languages sometimes. Plus theres a few kids from the temple.

Have fun at the swap meet lol I am jealous. You guys never stopped the grind wow keep on keepin on. We just played spikeball. These utah kids are some trash lol, we dusted em

Don't worry its all good about lexi haha. 

Two other things tho!

This one kid in my district elder cook legit has a testimony based on seagulls. We were having a lunch debate on what God's bird was, like symbolicly and we all agreed the dove. But this one kid gets way serious and for the next 2 days, seriosuly 2 days, he goes off, writes the 13 articles of Faith in Seagulls etc. If you get a chance to watch the video I posted that whiteboard contains his thoughts. This is the same kid who went to the ER last week for "heart pains" and who I have had to repeadtly take to the BYU student health center. funny kid. turned out just to be stress making his stomach large. We all do stomach stretches now its a good time!

No news yet on anything execpt my release date is July 20th or something. Crazy lol

No he is going to Honduras. Dude is highkey off but hes funny. He broke the MTC wall sit record and was so proud of that. Reminds me a LOT of jimmy. 

Hey how is it going? Sorry for all the email threads I get really confused. Did you get my group email for this week? and yeah thats what I meant. Thanks for the pics lol Carsten is a cutie. The broadheads went to a preseason game? 

and yeah so Elder Warner apparently heard Oct 11 too, from the doctor. We have to go there a lot lol. So we are gonna go ask. I got some info like first day here that said 17th or something but no I don't have travel plans yet. My visa isn't even here so idk. This one kid has been here for 12 weeks and his british visa keeps getting denied so now he is going to Orem... My greatest fear lol. I havent really felt sad haha. frustrated a few times, really sad about brandon. I've cried but its not like I'm in a bad spot. Things are good. thanks you don't have to worry about that.

Also I've recieved like random cookies, packages, cinnamon rolls etc. some are from the mullins and taysoms but theres like at least one random box of CHIP cookies so...

way cool about Elijah tho! I hope that works out haha. And sorry about the G's we didnt even see that. Feel free to crop or photoshop Elder Young out lol

haha nah I'm good, its not bugging me... Sorry if you thought that lol. I like the news tho keep it coming. And yeah we checked w them at the front and it looks like we are gonna be ok, September 17th is my release day from MTC. So it  is fine. I'm really not stressing about anything either lol like I'm good, don't worry. Every day here is the same and its fun and goes by fast I'm not like doing bad or anything. Its ok... And no I am glad I know about the Brandons stuff it would be weird if you didnt tell me. Hope you are doing ok!

Week of August 18, 2018

Hey mom! 

Thank you so much for the package! I got needled a lil for the stickie things on all the candy and stuff but once I started offering goldfish people shut up. They actually really like your hug thing and they all wrote home to their girls asking for one its super funny. You've basically hugged my entire distrito now ( except the hermanas ). 

We listened to a talk by Elder Bednard this week called Character of Christ. Most powerful talk I've ever seen it was an MTC devo that they filmed. ANyways there is too much to explain, its a long talk but basically it was all about looking outward instead of inward and all I could think of was how you have always been so good at that. I wrote MOM in big letters in my notes haha. I would write yiou a letter but its very difficult, we can only write on Pdays and its hard enough to find time to use a computer as it is. But I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you always looking outward, not just for me and Harper, but for everyone. Its something I reallllly admire about you and its something I strive to emulate in my life. Its funnny to bc like everytime you send me a scripture Its one that I read that day! There are no coincidences in the gospel. I'm very grateful for all the preparation you've given me. Living on my own (kinda) is weird but you prepared me well and Christ makes up the difference like he does wih everything else.

I've had some rough experiences, babysitting "sick" elders and missing meals and exersize to take care of them, disciplining rule breakers, feeling inadequate, but honestly its hard to be sad or disappointed here, I honestly don't think I've fely down for more than 2 minutes. Even when  had to keep the Rexburg kid in my district from going home, or when these two elders who were freinds from before kept ditching their comps. Again it hasn't been easy but I love it. The laughs at lunch and the spiritual moments, which don't stop, are amazing. I cannot wait to share this mesasage w people. As soon as I learn how to speak.

How is Atlanta tho?? is everything going well? When are you back home?

My ccomp is good! hes a stud I am super glad to have him. Things would be tough without him. I got pretty sick a while back from eating salt on a bet and hes been making fun of me for that. and he hits me. I have bruises. es un chiste. Theres a lotta idaho kids. and the one I talked to is a great guy he just needed someone to listen to him. I think Elder Ward from IF may know the burtons. Glad you got back safe tho I hope ir was fun. And no dont apologize I loved it haha a lot of it is gone already but there is so much food here its stupid. ALthough we missed breakfast this morning so we may have to eat. Please correct my email and make changes. have dad review the spainsh hahaha love you!

I am emailing grandma and grandpa rn but Carolyn never emailed me... as far as shoes go I dont really care whatever works. I can still wear theses ones too I just look a lil ghetto when I break ankles. all good tho. and yeah I have been taking care of myself. My diet is worse than most these guys so I adjust good. 

nah nah i'm straight thank you. I meant I ate worse before I came then they did so like I'm adjusted you feel? my ankles are good. I get bloody noses like very very rarely and they are so small it doesnt count. like one drop. Its all good. gracias por todo

Hey Sister Welker,

Its Tanner, and I heard the news about Brandon. That was very hard news to hear and I'm very sorry. I have been thinking about Brandon a lot and I have a picture in my room with him. I tell everyone, "Thats my best friend!" and show the picture to people all the time. He is in my prayers and in my thoughts. Please let him know how much I miss him and can't wait to see him in a couple years. Brandon means so much to me and I know that he will be ok. He's a special kid and has always been such an inspiration to me. I will keep you all in my prayers, please let me know how he is doing.

hey i dont think I'm gonna ask my district, they  all got a lot going on and we even have a guy in the hospital with chest pains rn. Truth is I've had to crack some heads today cuz some of these guys are punks and if I come out asking for this, theyll think its for attention. idk. what do you think I should do? I told my comp and we've both been praying for him. But I am very worried that like they will think I'm abusing power or whatever its scary. My district is honestly a mess, one guys trying to take over my job already its not good. Another guy is writing his girl every day and I already had to bust himm on something else, and literallly every day all any one talks about is their girlfriends. so idk what to do mom. I don't wanna complicate things and I just want Brandon to be ok. They won't take it serious I worry

Hey guys,

it feels super nice being able to think in english again, my comp and I committed to only speak spanish starting our third day and its been BRUTAL. awesome but brutal. I absolutly love it here and I am so so so blessed with an amazing District. These Elders y Hermanas estan homies. My comp is an awesome guy too I know you looked him up. We get along super bueno and share the mismo metas por nuestro misions. I dont have a lot of time to email today so Ill just give a quick update. I was made District Leader in our distrito so I am responsible for these 12 amazing missioanries. Theres not a sngle one who doesnt want with all their heart to be here. I dont know a lot about missions yet but I do know thats pretty special. Ive struggled a lot with feeling inadequate, like  said everyone here is amazing. I dont mean that lightly either. It makes me so so happy to know tjat everyone here wants to serve our Heavenly Father. The people out there who will hear the words of these Elders y Hermanas are SOOOO lucky. fr. Our district has 6 missionaries going to ES SS, Este and 2 going to Santa Ana. Our sisters are going to Costa Rica and the other 2 to Honduras. Theres so much left to say I have been here for like years already haha. I havent got to play ball yet but I will today. Only volleyball. Tell me how home is I miss it so much

Yeah your letters have been awesome. Thanks so much!!! Its def much hotter here lol but I am sorry I hope it cools down. and if you could thank the wunderlis and birnighams for their letters and the pickerings for the food that would be awesome!! I have to go but yes on the llama thing lol thats a go for sure. 

And as far as being DL goes its a lot of responsibility especially with how amazing the peeps are in my district, but Ive been reading DyC 121 and I know I'll be raised to the task.

Elder warner and I are starving tho and we have to go do laundry cuz he wets the bed so peace!!

haha I found out it isnt 3 in 1. its 3x strength lol. its fine tho ive still been using it and honestly its all the same stuff. I just want to be able to answer honestly if someone asks if i shampoos

just got in, got situated. Havent met my comp yet but his name is Elder Warner and everything is going well. The spanish hits you right away haha its gonna take some adjustment.
